We believe deeply in the power of prayer. Our intercessory prayer team meets every Tuesday morning to lift up the needs of our church family and community. When you submit a prayer request, it is handled with care, confidentiality, and reverence.
You may choose to keep your request confidential (shared only with our pastoral staff) or allow it to be shared with our prayer chain so that the broader church body can join in prayer on your behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
Come as you are! Our congregation dresses in a range from casual to semi-formal. There is no dress code — we want you to feel comfortable and welcome.
Is there parking available?
Yes. We have a large free parking lot adjacent to the church building. First-time visitors may use the designated visitor parking spaces near the main entrance. Handicapped-accessible parking is also available.
Do you have programs for children?
Absolutely! We offer a fully staffed nursery (birth – age 2), a preschool program (ages 3–5), and an elementary program (grades K–5) during both Sunday services. All volunteers are background-checked and trained. Your children's safety is our top priority.
How long are the services?
Our Sunday worship services are approximately 75 minutes. They include a time of congregational worship through music (about 25 minutes), a prayer and Scripture reading, and a sermon (about 35–40 minutes).
How can I get involved?
We encourage you to start by attending a service and exploring our ministries. Our New Members Class (offered quarterly) is a great way to learn about Diakonia and discover where you can plug in. You can also fill out the contact form above and we'll connect you with the right ministry leader.
Is the building wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Our facility is fully ADA-compliant with accessible entrances, restrooms, designated seating in the sanctuary, and an elevator to the second floor. If you need any assistance, our hospitality team is happy to help.
Do you offer translation or hearing assistance?
Yes. Assisted listening devices are available at the Welcome Center for those who are hard of hearing. We also offer Spanish translation via wireless headsets during the 11:00 AM Sunday service. Please notify the Welcome Center upon arrival.
How do I become a member?
We offer a four-week New Members Class quarterly. The class covers our church history, beliefs, governance structure, and ministry opportunities. After completing the class, you'll have the opportunity to meet with a pastor and formally join the church. Contact our office to sign up for the next session.
Do you offer marriage counseling?
Yes. Our pastoral team provides pre-marital counseling (required for weddings at Diakonia), marriage enrichment sessions, and marriage counseling. Sessions are confidential and available by appointment. Contact Pastor Michael Torres at mtorres@diakoniachurch.org to schedule.
Can I reserve the church facility for a private event?
Our Fellowship Hall, Chapel, and outdoor courtyard are available for weddings, receptions, memorial services, and community events. Rental rates and availability vary. Contact our Church Administrator, Linda Chambers, at admin@diakoniachurch.org for details and scheduling.
How can I request a pastoral visit?
If you or a loved one is hospitalized, homebound, or in need of a pastoral visit, please call the church office at (217) 555-1234. For urgent needs outside office hours, press 1 on the voicemail system for the pastoral care line. Our pastors are committed to being present during your time of need.
Is there a shuttle or transportation service?
We operate a church van shuttle service on Sunday mornings for senior members and those without reliable transportation. The shuttle runs two routes beginning at 8:15 AM. Contact the church office by Thursday to reserve a seat for the following Sunday.
Do you livestream your services?
Yes. Our 11:00 AM Sunday worship service is livestreamed on our website and YouTube channel. Previous services are archived and available for viewing anytime. Visit our Sermons page to browse past messages.
