Good Friday Service
A solemn and reverent service reflecting on the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Scripture readings, hymns, prayer, and communion, we journey together to the foot of the cross and contemplate the depth of God's love displayed at Calvary.
Easter Sunday Celebration
Celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ! Our Easter celebration begins with an outdoor Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM, followed by two festive worship services at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM featuring special music, a baptism celebration, and a powerful Easter message. An egg hunt for children follows the 11:00 AM service.
Community Service Day
Our semi-annual day of service! Join teams serving at food banks, parks, schools, and care facilities across the Springfield area. This is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to live out the call of Christ to love our neighbors. Meet at the church parking lot at 8:00 AM for team assignments and prayer.
Women's Fellowship Brunch
A morning of fellowship, worship, and encouragement for women of all ages. Our guest speaker, Dr. Maria Chen, will share on the theme 'Finding Strength in God's Promises.' Enjoy a catered brunch, worship music, table discussions, and the joy of sisterhood in Christ. RSVP required.
Youth Worship Night
An evening of extended worship, prayer, and fellowship for students in grades 6–12. Led by our youth worship team with a special message from Pastor James. Snacks and games included. Friends are always welcome!
New Members Class Begins
Interested in becoming a member of Diakonia Christian Church? This four-session class covers our history, beliefs, core values, ministry opportunities, and what it means to commit to a local church family. Lunch provided. Register with the church office.
Men's Breakfast & Bible Study
A hearty breakfast followed by a time of Bible study, prayer, and fellowship for men of all ages. This month's topic: 'Leading with Integrity — What It Means to Be a Man After God's Own Heart.' All men are welcome.
Senior Adults Spring Outing
Our Senior Adults Ministry invites you to a relaxing spring outing at Lincoln Memorial Garden. Enjoy a guided nature walk, a picnic lunch, and wonderful fellowship. Transportation provided from the church. Sign up at the Welcome Center.
Baptism Sunday
We celebrate the public profession of faith through believer's baptism! If you have placed your trust in Jesus Christ and have not yet been baptized, we invite you to take this meaningful step of obedience. Contact the church office to register.
Vacation Bible School
A week of adventure, fun, and faith for children ages 4 through 5th grade! This year's theme: 'God's Great Expedition.' Children will explore the Bible through interactive lessons, worship, crafts, games, and snacks. Volunteers and registration are welcome. Free and open to the entire community.
Church-Wide Picnic
Our annual summer picnic is a beloved tradition! Enjoy grilled food, lawn games, live music, bounce houses for the kids, and meaningful fellowship with your church family. The church provides main dishes; families are asked to bring a side or dessert to share.
Summer Mission Trip — Honduras
Join our global missions team on a 10-day trip to partner with our long-standing mission partners in Honduras. The team will help with construction projects, conduct children's ministry, distribute supplies, and share the Gospel. Applications due by May 15. Cost: $1,800 per person (scholarships available).
Back-to-School Prayer Walk
As the new school year approaches, join us in walking and praying around local schools — interceding for students, teachers, administrators, and families. We'll pray for safety, wisdom, Gospel opportunities, and academic excellence. All ages welcome. Water and snacks provided.
Back-to-School Supply Drive Deadline
Help Springfield students start the year strong! Donate new backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, and other school essentials. Collection bins are in the church lobby. Last year we provided backpacks for over 350 students at three elementary schools.
Youth Summer Retreat
A transformative four-day retreat for students in grades 6–12 at Camp Timber Ridge. This year's theme: 'Unshakeable.' Activities include worship sessions, campfire devotionals, zip lines, canoe races, team challenges, and plenty of unforgettable memories. Cost: $225 per student (financial assistance available). Register by July 15.
Ministry Fair Sunday
Discover how God might be calling you to serve! Browse tables from over 30 different ministries, meet team leaders, ask questions, and sign up to volunteer. Whether you're drawn to working with children, serving on a mission team, joining the choir, or helping with technology, there's a place for you.
Church-Wide Day of Prayer & Fasting
We set aside this day to seek the Lord together through fasting and concentrated prayer. The prayer chapel will be open from 7 AM to 7 PM with guided prayer stations, Scripture cards, and worship music. Sign up for a one-hour prayer shift, or drop in as your schedule allows. A corporate prayer service concludes the day at 7:00 PM.
Small Groups Fall Kickoff
The fall semester of small groups begins! Join us for a kickoff party with dessert, worship, and small group previews. Browse 18 different groups organized by demographic, topic, and location. Groups meet weekly throughout Springfield in homes, coffee shops, and at the church.
Marriage Enrichment Retreat
A weekend getaway for couples designed to strengthen marriages and deepen intimacy. Sessions led by Dr. and Mrs. Gregory Daniels, covering communication, conflict resolution, spiritual unity, and keeping romance alive in every season of marriage. Cost: $199 per couple (includes meals and lodging).
Annual Missions Conference
Our premier missions event of the year! Hear from five missionary families serving in Honduras, Kenya, India, Cambodia, and Romania. Sessions include personal testimonies, ministry updates, prayer times, and a missions lunch. The Sunday morning services will feature our mission partners sharing what God is doing around the world.
Community Service Day (Fall)
Our fall community service day! Teams will rake leaves for elderly homeowners, clean local parks, sort donations at the Rescue Mission, deliver care packages to homebound members, and serve lunch at the community food kitchen. Breakfast and team assignments start at 8:00 AM.
Fall Festival & Trunk-or-Treat
A safe, fun, and festive alternative to Halloween for families! Enjoy decorated car trunks with candy, inflatable bounce houses, face painting, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, carnival games, hot dogs, cotton candy, and a live music stage. Free and open to the entire community. Last year over 500 guests attended!

Our main worship services featuring praise, prayer, Scripture reading, and a sermon from God's Word. Children's ministry is available for birth through 5th grade during both services.
Wednesday Bible Study
7:00 PM
An in-depth, interactive study of the Scriptures for adults. Current study: the book of Romans. Childcare and youth programming run concurrently.
Friday Prayer Meeting
6:30 PM
A time of united, corporate prayer for the church, community, nation, and world. Open to all. Experience the transforming power of praying together.
Tuesday Women's Bible Study
9:30 AM & 7:00 PM
Two sessions for women to study God's Word together. Current study: "Steadfast Love" — a journey through the Psalms. Childcare available for the morning session.
Wednesday Youth Group
6:30 – 8:30 PM
A dynamic gathering for students in grades 6–12 featuring worship, teaching, small groups, and games. A safe place for teens to grow in faith and friendship.
Thursday Senior Luncheon
11:30 AM
A weekly fellowship lunch for senior adults featuring a home-cooked meal, devotional, and time of community. All senior adults are warmly invited.

Host Your Event at Diakonia
Diakonia Christian Church makes its facilities available for weddings, receptions, memorial services, baby showers, community meetings, and other appropriate events. Our campus includes a 600-seat sanctuary, a fellowship hall seating 250, a fully equipped commercial kitchen, meeting rooms of various sizes, and ample free parking.
We welcome both church members and community guests to inquire about facility usage. All bookings are subject to availability and approval by the church office. A modest facility usage fee applies for non-church events to cover cleaning, utilities, and setup.
Sanctuary
Seats 600. Includes sound system, projection, pipe organ, piano, and choir loft. Ideal for weddings, concerts, and large gatherings.
Fellowship Hall
Seats 250. Round or rectangular table configurations. Adjacent kitchen available. Perfect for receptions, banquets, and community meals.
Meeting Rooms
Four meeting rooms seating 10–40 people each. Equipped with whiteboards, projectors, and Wi-Fi. Great for workshops, classes, and small group events.
Youth Gymnasium
Full-size gymnasium with basketball courts. Available for sports events, youth activities, and large indoor gatherings.
