The annual Church-Wide Picnic is one of our most beloved traditions at Diakonia — a relaxed, joy-filled afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship with our entire church family. Held at the beautiful Springfield Central Park, this event draws 300+ members and guests each year.
The church provides grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, chicken, beverages, and tablleware. Families are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share (salads, chips, casseroles, brownies, cookies — anything goes!). There's always more food than we can eat.
Activities include volleyball, cornhole, horseshoes, frisbee, a bounce house and inflatable slide for kids, face painting, a live acoustic music stage, and a watermelon eating contest. This year we're adding a dunk tank — and yes, Pastor David has agreed to take a turn in the seat!
The picnic takes place rain or shine (Pavilion 3 is covered). Please bring lawn chairs, blankets, and sunscreen. A golf cart shuttle will run between the parking area and the pavilion for those who need assistance.
