Our fall Community Service Day is a church-wide mobilization to serve the Springfield community in the name of Jesus Christ. As the weather cools and leaves fall, there are unique opportunities to serve our neighbors — especially the elderly, the homebound, and those in need.
Fall service projects include: raking leaves and doing yard cleanup for elderly and disabled homeowners, cleaning up and winterizing community parks and playgrounds, sorting and organizing donations at the Springfield Rescue Mission, delivering care packages (blankets, soup, devotionals) to homebound church members, and serving lunch at the Springfield Community Food Kitchen.
The day begins at 8:00 AM in the church parking lot with a hearty breakfast, a brief devotional, prayer, and team assignments. Each team has an experienced leader and all supplies are provided. We return to the church by 2:00 PM for a closing celebration and sharing of stories.
This is a wonderful family event — children ages 5 and up can participate with a parent. Last fall, over 200 volunteers served at 12 different sites across Springfield. Let's make this year even bigger!
